Walthers 933-3096 HO Valley Growers Association, Silver/Clear
Walthers 933-3096 HO Valley Growers Association, Kit
Rural grain elevators like the prototypes for the Walthers Cornerstone Valley Growers Association were somehow more than just a trackside industry. The elevator was, and in some place still is, the center of many rural communities. And in a few places it WAS the community. Handling grain from local farms and selling it to distant markets, many of these older buildings are still active today as stand-alone facilities or as part of larger grain and feed mill complexes that sprouted up around them. Steel elevators came into use in the 1920s as steel sheets became affordable. In fact, many wooden elevators were sheathed in steel for fire resistance. With its colorful signs and period styling, this corrugated-metal elevator is perfect for your layout and your favorite era from the 1920s to today. The kit includes the main elevator, plus a wood storage bin and wooden office, all with realistic wall textures. Separate doors and windows add to the realism, along with colorful decals for several grain companies. If your steam or diesel-era railroad hauls grain then you need the Valley Growers Association grain elevator along your line.
